American Music Awards 2014 Nominees Announced; Iggy Azalea Leads With 6 Nominations

The nominees for the American Music Awards 2014 has been announced and the long list is led by Australian rapper Iggy Azalea with six nominations.

Apart from the "Fancy" rapper, artists with a handful of nominations include John Legend, Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams who have five nominations each, and Lorde is vying for four.

Nominated for the award of Artist of the Year are Iggy Azalea, Beyonce, Luke Bryan, Eminem, Imagine Dragons, John Legend, Lorde, One Direction, Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams.

Newcomers going head to head for the New Artist of the Year award are 5 Seconds of Summer, Iggy Azalea, Bastille, Sam Smith and Meghan Trainor.

"Fancy" by Iggy Azalea featuring Charli XCX, "All of Me" by John Legend, "Rude" by MAGIC!, "Dark Horse" by Katy Perry featuring Juicy J and "Happy" by Pharrell Williams were nominated for Single of the Year.

The choices for Favorite Male Artist for the Pop/Rock category are John Legend, Sam Smith and Pharrell Williams. While the performers vying for the Favorite Female Artist in the Pop/Rock category are Iggy Azalea, Lorde and Katy Perry.

Groups that are in the running for the Favorite Band, Duo or Group - Pop/Rock award are Imagine Dragons, One Direction and OneRepublic.

Nominees for the Favorite Pop/Rock Album are Lorde's "Pure Heroine," One Direction's "Midnight Memories" and Katy Perry's "Prism."

Favorite Male Artist nominees in the Country category are Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton. The choices for Favorite Female Coutnry Artist are Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves and Carrie Underwood. The nominees for the Favorite Country Group are Eli Young Band, Florida Georgia Line and Lady Antebellum.

"Blame It On My Roots: Five Decades of Influences" by Garth Brooks, "The Outsiders" by Eric Church and "Just As I Am" by Brantley Gilbert are nominated for Favorite Country Album.

In the Rap/Hip-Hop category, vying for the Favorite Album award are Iggy Azalea's "The New Classic," Drake's "Nothing Was The Same" and Eminem's "The Marshall Mathers LP 2."

Nominees for the Favorite Male Soul/R&B Artist are Chris Brown, John Legend and Pharrell Williams. Female aritsts vying for the Favorite Soul/R&B Female Artist are Jhene Aiko, Beyonce and Mary J. Blige.

Choices for the Favorite Soul/R&B Album category are "Beyonce" by Beyonce, "Love in the Future" by John Legend and "G I R L" by Pharrell Williams.

Favorite Artist -Alternative Rock nominees are Bastille, Imagine Dragons and Lorde. Vying for the Favorite Artist - Adult Contemporary award are Sara Bareilles, One Republic and Katy Perry.

Latin music lovers can choose from Marc Anthony, Enrique Iglesias and Romeo Santos to award the Favorite Latin Artist.

For the Contemporary Inspirational category, acts vying for the Favorite Artist award are Casting Crowns, Hillsong United and Newsboys.

Nominees for the Favorite Artist in the Electronic Dance Music category are Avicii, Calvin Harris and Zedd.

And choices for the Top Soundtrack are "Frozen," "The Fault In Our Stars" and "Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix, Vol. 1."

Winners will reportedly be decided on by fans. Voting will be made available on October 13th at AMA.VoteNow.tv. Fans can also vote for their favorites by using the hashtag #AMAs on Twitter.

The American Music Awards 2014, running on its 42nd year, will be held on November 23 at Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and will feature a performance by Charli XCX.
