Captain America 3 Cast: 'Iron Man' Robert Downey Jr. Joins The Movie As Plot Details Lead To 'Civil War' Storyline In The Marvel Cinematic Universe Soon!

Variety reveals, Downey Jr. is in final discussion to play billionaire Tony Stark in Captain America 3. The casting news comes after Robert Downey Jr. confirmed his roles in next year's The Avengers: Age of Ultron and The Avengers 3.

What does this possible casting news mean for Marvel fans?

Apparently, Stark will compete with Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) over the Superhero Registration Act, which enforces everyone with superhuman abilities to disclose their identities to the government.

The thrilling news regarding Downey's new role comes the same day Marvel announced plans to reboot the Civic War comic book miniseries next year. Marvel's Twitter revealed, "#CivilWar #1" is expected to be released in summer 2015.

According to Downey, a renowned franchise was changing its course. Downey confirmed that despite of huge success at the box office, Iron Man 4 was not going to proceed.

During a visit to The Late Show, he revealed, "There [are] no plans for an Iron Man 4," he further added, "There is no script." He instead planned to focus on some other projects.

"I'm going to do other stuff with Marvel," he added. "I'm still going to be involved with Marvel and there's going to be plenty of fun stuff to happen."

Moreover, the actor is preparing for a baby with wife, Susan Downey. Following their announcement on Twitter in July, the couple is getting ready for a baby girl.

The actor told to E! News, "Um, well, I've never really had a daughter before, so I don't know what prepares a dad, I'm asking around," he added, "But, um, I did my part, and now I'm just going to show up and do as I'm told."

Marvel refused to comment on Variety's story but it looks like the actor has a lot to look forward too!
