According to Entertainment Weekly, "Last spring, NBC's About a Boy captivated fans with its charming take on a different type of modern family by introducing viewers to Will (David Walton), a hot, single, hot, successful, hot, one-hit-wonder songwriter living a charmed life free of responsibility; Fiona (Minnie Driver), an earthy, overprotective mother; and her quirky, 11-year-old son, Marcus (Benjamin Stockham), who move in next door. In just 13 episodes, the three formed an atypical-yet heartwarming-relationship. (You might say they had us at "cello.") Happily, the boy is back-season 2 premieres October 14-but the question fans are surely asking after the season 1 finale that had Will following the love of his life to New York City is, "Is Will?"

On tonight's episode, "Will (David Walton) returns to San Francisco to sort out his finances after a surprising royalty check. Andy (Al Madrigal) reveals to him that his wife Laurie (Annie Mulmolo) might be pregnant and he needs Will's help to find out. Meanwhile, Marcus's (Benjamin Stockham) new "friends" don't sit well with Will and he attempts to convince Fiona (Minnie Driver) that the kids are up to no good. Should fans be excited for the second season of the family comedy? According to MStars News, "NBC's hit comedy About a Boy returns tonight for its second season. With its start, David Walton, who plays Will, celebrates the first time a show of his has been picked up for a sophomore season, and he couldn't be more excited. "This is my first Season 2 experience, and I really like it. It's just nice to be employed," David told TV Guide. After starring in six failed TV shows, including Heist, 100 Questions and Bent, David is thrilled to be filming a second season for the NBC show. "There's a lot of young actors and people who have success very quickly who kind of expect it or don't have the experience to really appreciate it. I feel and I know I'm incredibly fortunate for this situation," he explained to the publication. About a Boy is based on the 1998 novel and 2002 film of the same name. The TV show was adapted by Jason Katims, who previously worked on Friday Night Lights and Parenthood. Despite the show's success, David doesn't try to get too excited about what's happening next with the series."
