NBA 2014 Season Predictions: Philadelphia 76ers Will Be The Worst Team In The NBA? After Taking Joel Embiid, Sixers Still Want Draft Position!

The NBA 2014-15 Season Predictions are on, and the team rankings are already in play. While many previews are split on number one, a safe majority are in agreement that the Philadelphia 76ers would be at the bottom.

Of course, it makes it easier to be bad when you're actually trying. While no team will admit to tanking or actually playing to lose, it's hard to ignore what the Sixers have done in the off-season.

There's the draft, and they did not get the no.1 spot they have targeted last season, but they may have gotten the player they wanted (it was rumored to be either one of the Kansas boys Andrew Wiggins and Embiid). An injury allowed Embiid to fall at third, but the Sixers have to wait-and they actually want to.

Last season, the Sixers were not the worst team but there were more teams tanking than this year. The Sixers had 19 wins-which is not at all dignified but it was higher than the projections. They even beat the Miami Heat and got a 5-4 start at the season.

That was primarily because of the surprise play of rookie Michael Carter-Williams and the veteran trio of Thaddeus Young, Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes. The three veterans are all gone now. The Charlotte Observer notes:

"All three are gone.

And in fact, they didn't get anything of consequence back in return.

Sadly, for Sixers fan, the same can be said for the draft.

Turner was traded at the deadline for second-round picks. Hawes went to the Cleveland Cavaliers for almost nothing and Young was traded in the offseason for a first-round pick and two spare parts."

The Grantland NBA Season Preview also lists them at no. 30, also in the ESPN Power Rankings. There won't be much difference among the NBA media and it's just as the Sixers front office intended to be.
