Some couples are just mean to be. That's certainly the case for country star Brantley Gilbert.

The 29-year-old "You Don't Know Her Like I Do" singer is reportedly engaged to a school teacher who he calls "the one that got away."

"It was one of those things that was on and off for few years - mostly on - and then she was the one that got away for about five years," Gilbert revealed during an interview with country radio program The Bobby Bones Show on Tuesday. "It came back around and I've never been happier. This little one, she's the one, and I'm a pretty stoked dude. I'm pretty excited to say the least."

While the Georgia native didn't share the name of his fiancée, he did take a moment to gush about her job.

"[She] teaches schools about a mile up the road from my house and it's an awesome thing," Gilbert explained. "She loves to teach."

Gilbert was previously engaged to country singer and actress Jana Kramer. The pair ended their seven-month engagement in August 2013.

It's no wonder Gilbert reconnected with his current bride-to-be however. The singer couldn't help but confess that his fiancée has inspired quite a bit of his music over the years.

"You'll hear her in most of my songs," said Gilber. The singer used his 2012 hit "More than Miles" as an example of his ladylove's influence, citing lyrics like: "Cause that girl's in every song I sing/She's in every song I write/And that six string ridin' in her seat/Won't keep me warm tonight."

Sounds like fans can expect sweet love songs out of Gilbert for a long time to come.
