Peaches Geldof Death ‘Brought Back Memories’ Of Amy Winehouse Death; Mitch Winehouse Extends Sympathy To Fellow Father Bob Geldof

Mitch Winehouse recently admitted that Peaches Geldof death in April 2014 because of a heroin overdose was reminiscent of Amy Winehouse death. The "Rehab" songstress passed away in July 2011 because of alcohol poisoning.

"When Peaches died, it brought everything back to me. It was a similar situation because Peaches seemed to be doing so well and Amy in the last five weeks of her life didn't drink, except for small periods where she drank a lot," he opened up to the Daily Mail.

The 63-year-old father also said that all along, they thought that the "Back to Black" hit maker was already sober: "We were convinced [Amy] was moving towards sobriety as I'm sure Bob Geldof and his family thought Peaches was. But with toxic substances like alcohol and heroin, terrible accidents can happen."

"Bob Geldof hasn't been in contact. I wouldn't know what to say to him, it's so sad. She was a beautiful girl and had two wonderful kids. But that is the nature of addiction, that becomes the greatest love of their life," he also said.

Prior to Peaches Geldof's death, Bob Geldof already lost his ex-wife Paula Yates in September 2000 because of heroin overdose. The former Booomtown Rats singer recently talked about his guilt to ITV News.

"You blame yourself. You're the father who is responsible and clearly failed," he said. For anybody watching, who has a dead kid and you're a parent. You go back, you go back, you go back, you go back, you go back, you go over, you go over. What could you have done? You do as much as you can."

He adds that performing on stage gives him a "brief respite."
