Simpsons News 2014: Goodfellas Frank Sivero Files $250M Lawsuit For Fox Saying Louie Simpson Is Based On Him; Insists That The Character's Curly Hair and Mannerisms Are Like Him

He has starred in classic films like the Godfather Part 2 and Martin Scorcese's Goodfellas, but this year 2014,  62-year old Frank Sivero surfaced in the news not as a cast of a movie but as a complainant of the 21st Century Fox's Simpsons cartoon series saying that one of the 'wise guys' Louie is based on him.  The $250 Million lawsuit is filed on October 22 as the actor demands for royalty in using his image for the character.

E! News reports that Sivero filed the lawsuit in the Los Angeles Superior Court saying that although the Loui's voice is different as it is played by Dan Castellaneta , still he is the "originator of the idea and character of Louie."

He based this idea on the fact that the he and the writers of the show have lived together in the same  Sherman Oaks, California apartment complex in 1989 back when he is still actively participating in the crafting of his Frankie Carbone character in Goodfellas. And that the filmmakers including executive producer James L. Brooks knew the idea of the likeness between him and Louie.

As mentioned in The Rollingstones, the lawsuit said:

"They knew he was developing the character he was to play in the movie Goodfellas. In fact, they were aware the entire character of 'Frankie Carbone' was created and developed by Sivero, who based this character on his own personality. . . Louie's appearance and mannerisms are strongly evocative of character actor Frank Sivero."

Further, the complaint said that Loui's Italian-American accent has a strong likeness to Joe Pesci, still an actor in Goodfellas.

Considering the Simpons' $12 billion's earnings over the years, the Wedding Singer actor demands that he will be paid $250 Million for damages based on the "misappropriation of name and/or likeness, misappropriation of ideas, interference with prospective economic advantage and unjust enrichment."

Louie was first introduced in October 10, 1991, a year after Godfellas was released in cinemas 1990. He appeared together with his mafia boss "Fat Tony" in the Season Three episode "Bart the Murderer. The whole season is written by John Swartzwelder.
