Taylor Swift 1989 Album Might Lead To Collaboration With Iggy Azalea? ‘Shake It Off’ Singer Says Her Record Label Was Initially Doubtful Of Her Pop Album

Taylor Swift's 1989 album might be making headlines left and right but the blonde beauty confessed that she had to "campaign" for it because the big bosses were doubtful at first.

Since the "Shake It Off" songstress is famous for her country tracks, it wasn't an easy decision for her recording label to allow Swift to venture into the pop genre.

"I had to plead my case with everyone and certain people at the record label. I had to really campaign and get everyone on my side," Swift told The Sun.

She talked about elaborating her reasons for deciding to sing a different tune: "I showed them that I was doing this for all the right reasons and that this was the creative decision and artistically there was no other option than to boldly hone this album for what it is."

"I had to convince my Nashville record label president it was right for me. I presented the album to him and he said, 'It's great, it's the best thing you've ever done but can you put two country songs on it?'" she added.

However, the "I Knew You Were Trouble" hit maker refused to add country songs on the Taylor Swift 1989 album. Fortunately, some of her tracks may now be deemed successful.

"He's happy as a clown now as we then got our first Hot 100 number one with Shake It Off," Swift said.

Meanwhile, a collaboration might be possible between Iggy Azalea and Swift although the latter's camp remains mum. The "Fancy" singer recently expressed her admiration for Swift whom she met in an elevator at the MTV Video Music Awards.

If Taylor Swift and Iggy Azalea's collaboration will turn into reality, another succesful track might be expected. After all, Azalea has previously topped charts with songs "Problem" with Ariana Grande, "Booty" with Jennifer Lopez, and "Black Widow" with Rita Ora.
