Joan Rivers News: Medical Malpractice Lawsuit In Place; Daughter Melissa Rivers Continues Quest For Circumstances On Cause Of Death

Recent Joan Rivers news reveal that a medical malpractice lawsuit is already in place as the late "Fashion Police" host's daughter, Melissa Rivers, continues her quest to look into the circumstances that led to the comedienne's death.

A report published in TMZ claimed that the law firm of Gair Gair, Gair, Conason, Steigman, Mackauf, Bloom & Rubinowitz was retained by Joan Rivers' daughter, Melissa, to file a case against the clinic where the "Fashion Police" host stopped breathing. Accordingly, a medical malpractice and wrongful death suit will be filed in a month.

At the moment, communications were initially sent out by the firm to people who were involved in the procedure that led to the death of the comedienne. Further Joan Rivers news reveal that the letters contain a directive "NOT to destroy records involving Joan's treatment." Even phone logs are being sought by the attorneys.

The hiring of the law firm was confirmed through a statement by partner Ben Rubinowitz published on E!News.

"In order to fully determine all of the facts and circumstances surrounding the death of Joan Rivers, we confirm that our firm has been engaged by Melissa Rivers and her family," the statement said.

Earlier Joan Rivers news show that the comedienne, who was 81 when she passed away, died due to "therapeutic complication."

Per E!News, the Chief Medical Examiner of New York City ruled that the exact cause of her death was "anoxic encephalopathy due to hypoxic arrest during laryngoscopy and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy with propofol sedation for evaluation of voice changes and gastroesophageal reflux disease."

Last month, the New York Times  reported of Joan Rivers news update as it said that the treatment of the comedian at the Manhattan endoscopy clinic is the latest example of the "V.I.P syndrome."

The article noted that even with the special treatment, it doesn't necessarily work out the best for the client.
