"The Following" season 3 spoilers revealed that Mike is quickly following the footsteps of Ryan in his quest for revenge, as Kevin Bacon's character is still not over Joe Carroll.

Cast Shawn Ashmore dished "The Following" season 3 spoilers in an interview with Buddy TV said that Mike's character will change for the worse.

"I think it's understandable. I think there's always that risk that when you put yourself in these circumstances, you'd have to be a saint not to follow that path, and Mike certainly is not that. He's a real man that struggles with the decisions he's made and also the tragedy that has happened to him," said "The Following" season 3 cast Shawn Ashmore.

On the decision not to kill off Joe Caroll in season 2, executive produer Marcos Siega told BuddyTV, "I think there's a still bit of story to wrap up," he said. "In season 3, we need Joe for a very specific reason."

Jennifer Johnson in the same interview said there's more to the story between Joe and Ryan that needs to play out. "There's still so much more to mine between those two," she said.

Meanwhile, Screenrant dished more "The Following" season 3 spoilers when it said that Kevin Bacon's Ryan still have some things to resolve with Joe Carroll.

"There are a lot of scenes with Ryan visiting Joe in prison but they're trying to do something different from Hannibal and similar shows," it said. "Additionally, Joe's story is just the tip of the iceberg. Mark will be a shark under the water - used in ways to surprise the audience."

For instance, in the premiere episode, the audience will find out who is the woman that Mark is in the car with at the end of last season's finale. Mark at this point is in a very dark place and he could be a "threat to anyone" such as Joe, Hardy or Mike.
