Amanda Seyfried: “I Almost Lost Out On Several Roles In My Career Because I Was Overweight”

Amanda Seyfried is not exactly what you would call "overweight."

However, the "Ted 2" star recently revealed on Twitter that she has been judged for her size when it comes to finding movie roles.

"Fun fact: I almost lost out on several roles in my career because I was overweight. Wrong, America," Seyfried wrote on the social media site on Oct. 18.

The 28-year-old actress once said complained about her awful raw food diet and intense workout routine which she maintained in order to get cast in films.

"If I didn't run and work out, there's no way I would be this thin," she told Glamour in 2010. "But I have to stay in shape because I'm an actress. It's f--ked up and it's twisted, but I wouldn't get the roles otherwise. If I'd been a bit bigger, I don't think they would have cast me for Mamma Mia!"

Later that year, however, Seyfried declared that she had given up her extreme diet and fitness schedule in favor of a more moderate regime.

"If we're so busy trying to change ourselves, especially aesthetically, we're going to miss out on more important things," the actress told Self magazine. "I used to live, eat and sleep by an exercise schedule, and I couldn't enjoy myself if I didn't exercise. And then I realized, What a waste of time! My soft parts are probably never going away."

"People may seem perfect, but that's because they spend thousands on trainers and diets and surgeries. That's what we're made to feel like we're supposed to look like but if you put it in perspective, there's nothing realistic about it!" she added.

"It's important in the grand scheme of things to keep in shape, but if you're always worrying about imperfections and how you look, these things aren't going to change for the most part," continued the star. "The thing you can change is the way you perceive . . . Stop looking in the mirror and realize that you're living for yourself, not other people."
