Anne Hathaway is not afraid to share her most embarrassing moments.
In an interview on "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" on Monday night, the 31-year-old actress opened up about a few awkward moments that she has had with "Interstellar" co-star Matthew McConaughey. And while telling these stories, she also shared how James Franco factors into her most humiliating moment ever.
The conversation began when Hathaway told Fallon about being forced to give a speech about McConaughey when he received the 28th American Cinematheque Award in October. The actress was unaware that she would be sharing her story about Matthew directly after Kate Hudson, Jennifer Garner, and Sandra Bullock, who Hathaway praises as "perfect."
"I thought, 'Just get it together, you can do this. You've written a speech, it's not as funny as the other girls', but it's heartfelt, you can do it!' I go to say my first line ... the teleprompter broke," said Hathaway. "And I was like, 'You got to be kidding me!'"
Fallon then asked Hathaway if the incident was embarrassing, so the Oscar-winning actress decided to give him some context.
"The thing about me and embarrassment, you have to remember, is that it all happens on a scale," she explained. "So on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 is just like being a person walking down the street, and 10 is, for me, co-hosting the Oscars with James Franco [in 2011]...which, by the way, is only tied with being honored to accept an Oscar [Best Supporting Actress for Les Misérables] whilst wearing a dress that I knew made it look like my nipples were erect."
Hathaway then deemed giving her Matthew McConaughey speech a 4.
The star has had her share of blush-inducing moments with McConaughey, however. She also confessed that she and her husband Adam Shulman once showed up to the "Dallas Buyers Club" actor's house for a party a day late.
"That one was like an eight," joked Hathaway, adding that McConaughey was completely understanding about the mix-up. "He invited us in, got us drunk, and we had a great time. And then I crashed a surprise party with him."
