Christian Bale Withdraws Being Steve Jobs; Feels He Isn't Right For The Role

Christian Bale declined to play Steve Jobs in the upcoming biopic for the late Apple co-founder, The Huffington Post said. Two weeks ago, scriptwriter Aaron Sorkin short-listed Bale for the role after trying his luck on Leonardo DiCaprio who also dropped the role.

The Welsh actor simply felt that he is not fit for the role of the Sony-produced film, the Hollywood Reporter said.

As the tabloid said, "Sources say Bale, after much deliberation and conflicting feelings, came to the conclusion he was not right for the part and decided to withdraw."

In an earlier interview on October 23 on Bloomberg Television as cited by Huffington Post, Sorkin expressed his great faith over the Batman actor's acting skills in portraying Jobs.

"We needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range and that's Chris Bale. He didn't have to audition. Well, there was a meeting. He really is a phenomenal actor," he said.

In this film, Larkin will work with the director Danny Boyle who had replaced David Fincher and producers Scott Rudin, Guymon Casady and Mark Gordon. Fincher is also said to have casted his vote for Christian Bale.

The biopic's script is said to have started in 2012 with Sorkin deriving inspiration from Walter Isaacson's best-selling biography about the inventor. But until now, they still have not found the right guy for the lead role.

Recent reports on Huffington said that a new waitlist is set which includes Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Bradley Cooper are being eyed for the role. Also, Seth Rogen is set to play Steve Wozniak but a clear list of actors is yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, Bale has aroused mixed reactions among Catholic writers as he labeled Moses as 'schizophrenic' and 'barbaric' in his upcoming film "Exodus: Gods and Kings".

"I think the man was likely schizophrenic and was one of the most barbaric individuals that I ever read about in my life. He's a very troubled and tumultuous man who fought greatly against God, against his calling," Bale said about Moses while he is preparing for the mythic role.
