‘Game Of Thrones’ Cast Natalie Dormer Admits She Initially Auditioned For Another Role; ‘Mockingjay’ Star Thinks Margaery Tyrell Needs A Break From Weddings

While many loved her as Margaery Tyrell in the hit HBO series, "Game of Thrones" cast Natalie Dormer admitted that she initally auditioned for another role. However, she did not reveal the character's identity when she recently appeared on "The Jonathan Ross" show.

"The story of that is, I went in to audition for another role and I've never told anyone what that other role and I won't tell anyone while we're still shooting the show," she explained.

This left some fans speculating if the 32-year-old initially eyed the role of Daenerys Targaryen who went to Emilia Clarke.

She revealed how the role of Tyrell went to her: "It was serendipity that they didn't really know what to do with Margaery Tyrell because she's kind of a weird one in the books. There's not really much about her so I had to flesh her out and to make her a three dimensional character within the show."

Dormer, who will similarly appear on "The Hunger Games: Mockigjay - Part 1" as Cressida Bonas, said that watching the show's first season was enough to convince her to accept the role.

Last month, Acess Hollywood also asked the "Tudors" actress if Tyrell would be a bride again. She responded, "What do they say, third time lucky? Is Margaery gonna be third time lucky?"

She, however, added that the "poor girl needs a break."

In real life, it appears that "Game of Thrones" cast Natalie Dormer prefers a low-key wedding. In an interview with Flare magazine where she graced the December cover, she explained why she hasn't started planning her wedding yet despite being engaged to director Anthony Byrne in 2011. The two have been tgether for seven years.

"It's such a thing, right? So many little girls dream about their wedding day," she said. "But with actresses, sometimes it's the inverse, because we get to be the centre of attention, looked up and down, dressed up for premieres all the time. The pull isn't quite as great."
