Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev split has reportedly caused the actress to give up "The Vampire Diaries" as reports claimed that Nikki Reed's boyfriend is envious of his former flame's success.

According to the Celebrity Dirty Laundry "the awkwardness level on set has already reached Defcon 5" right after the Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev split.

To their credit, the writers of the show have written their characters separately to avoid the awkwarness level.

"But eventually, the fans all want to see their beloved Delena reunited, which means Ian and Nina will have to go back to doing love scenes and pretending as though they don't have a history. From what we're hearing, the two principal actors aren't too pleased with their future on the show, and not JUST because of their inevitable love scenes," it said.

According to the previous report from Hollywood Take, the Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev split is creating tension on the set.

"Somerhalder and Reed's relationship has been getting more serious by the day, and it's become an awkward situation on the Vampire Diaries set, according to insiders," the Hollywood Take said. "First, Dobrev has to see her ex-boyfriend on set constantly. And second, Dobrev and Reed are friends are run in the same circles."

Meanwhile, Hollywood News Daily said that Nina Dobrev has managed to land a role in the movie "Let's Be Cops," and Ian Somerhalder wants to do the same.

"Ian is smart, handsome, caring, and seems like a genuinely good person. He vied to play the part of Christian Grey in 'Fifty Shades of Grey,' but that didn't work out, much to fans disappointment, but they're hoping he'll land a movie role in the near future," it said.

"Rumors are already swirling that their on-set feud, which is allegedly being caused by Ian's new girlfriend, Nikki Reed, may have one or both of the stars quitting "The Vampire Diaries" after season 6," the site added.
