Another member of the original "American Idol" team is leaving the Fox singing competition.

After working on the popular television show for the last 12 years and calling countless "Idol" contestants "Dawg," Randy Jackson is making his exit.

"After 13 seasons, I felt now was the perfect time to leave American Idol," Jackson said in a statement to Deadline Hollywood. "I'm proud to have been a part of a series that discovered some incredible artists and will go down in history as one of the most successful television shows ever. A true original, Idol started it all. Onto what's next."

Jackson was a judge on "American Idol" from its initial launch in 2002 until the end of season 12 in 2013. During season 13, Jackson returned as a mentor for the contestants, replacing record producer Jimmy Iovine in the role.

Now Jackson will truly part ways with the show that made him a household name.

"Randy has been such an integral part of American Idol since day one, both as a judge and as a mentor," Fox and "Idol" producers said in a statement to Deadline. "He's provided great advice and support, shaping the success of so many Idols we have discovered over the years. We wish him all the best in his next chapter. Randy will always be part of our Idol family and we hope he'll visit from time to time."

58-year-old Jackson, who was an original judge on the series alongside Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul, will now focus on producing film and TV projects. He will also manage artists through his company Dream Merchant 21 Entertainment.

Host Ryan Seacrest is now the only member of the initial "Idol" on-air crew that remains on the show as it heads into season 14, which premieres in January.
