"Game of Thrones" cast Sophie Turner was stunned beyond words upon receiving congratulatory messages on her Twitter account. It turned out that some web users thought that she was Benedict Cumberbatch's girlfriend-turned-fiancée, Sophie Hunter.

For this reason, "Game of Thrones" cast Sophie Turner clarified that the 38-year-old "Sherlock" actor wouldn't marry her. Instead, he is engaged to a British theatre and opera director.

"Thanks to everyone who is congratulating me but its another Sophie who is marrying Benedict Cumberbatch. Nice one guys haha," wrote the British actress on her account. "Game of Thrones" cast Sophie Turner is reportedly dating The Vamps crooner James McVey.

Meanwhile, the family members of Benedict Cumberbatch's girlfriend are delighted upon finding out about the announcement.

"We are very happy for them. It's a really fabulous day. It's only just been announced so we don't know any more but it's lovely news," said mother Katherine Hunter to The Mirror.

"We're all very happy for Soph - it's really exciting," added Sophie's brother, Patrick.

It is believed that the "Imitation Game" actor went all the way to Edinburgh to ask Katherine's permission for him to marry the 36-year-old Sophie. Cumberbatch then opted for a traditional engagement announcement. The engagement news has been printed on The Times which Cumberbatch considered "normal."

"It's what I would have done if I wasn't famous," he told USA Today. 

Benedict Cumberbatch and girlfriend Sophie Hunter do not have a wedding date yet. The two first met in 2009 on the set of "Burlesque Fairytales."
