"Into the Forest" cast Ellen Page claimed that keeping her secret was eroding her soul. The new movie "Freeheld" will show LGBT discrimination.

In a piece for Out magazine, "Into the Forest" cast Ellen Page weighed in on the difficulties of keeping her secret from friends, family and colleagues.

"No one's ever been so direct as to say, 'You're gay, so we're gonna hide it' but there's an unspoken thing going on. [People] believe it's the right thing to do for your career. They don't realize it's eroding your soul," she said. "It was eventually about me being like, Wait, why am I listening to that? At what point did I let those things become important?"

In the same article, the 27-year-old also talked about her new film "Freeheld" which deals about discrimination suffered by the LGBT community.

"It's very direct in showing how discrimination against the LGBT community affects people. There's no getting around the unfairness that happened here, and just how illogical and almost psychopathic it felt. And it's so exciting to get to do a love story with the sex that you actually fall for. I'm thrilled about it," Ellen Page added.

"Freeheld" is about a lesbian cop who is fighting the system for her long-time partner get her pension after she dies from terminal cancer.

Also starring Steve Carrell, the film is based on the true accounts about Laurel Hester and Stacie Andree who fought to introduce amendments to the Domestic Partnership Act.

During her Valentine's Day announcement, "Into the Forest" cast Ellen Page admitted to have suffered for years "because I was scared to be out. My spirit suffered, my mental health suffered, and my relationships suffered. And I'm standing here today with all of you on the other side of that pain."

"Maybe I can help others to have an easier time. I am tired of hiding, and I'm tired of lying by omission," she added per Advocate.
