Kristen Bell and a cappella group Straight No Chaser have teamed up to create a new Christmas classic called "Text Me Merry Christmas."

Bell and Straight No Chaser, which is made up of singers Dan Ponce, Randy Stine, Charlie Mechling, Steve Morgan, Jerome Collins, Dave Roberts, Walter Chase, Mike Itkoff, Patrick Hachey, and Kevin Carroll, met with Ryan Seacrest on Monday to premiere the holiday tune.

"We wanted a Christmas song that spoke to how informal communication has become," Straight No Chaser's Randy Stine said in the interview posted to RyanSeacrest.com. "As soon as we heard the first demo it was apparent that it had to be a duet ... the only voice we heard singing this was Kristen Bell and she nailed every note and delivered the lyrics with the perfect comedic tone. We were hanging on her every word ... when we weren't looking at our phones."

The comedic song pokes fun at modern communication and playfully suggests that people are more likely to send each other meaningful text messages during the holidays rather than make a phone call or send a Christmas car.

"This holiday / You'll be far away /And I'll be all alone," sings Bell, who proved herself a talented singer in the Disney film "Frozen" last year. "So please remember / This December / To fully charge your phone."

Later in the tune, Straight No Chaser crooner Michael Luginbill sings, "Text me Merry Christmas / Make my holiday complete / Though you're far from me / Say you'll brb / That's a text I'll never delete."

The song was written by 13-time Emmy winner David Javerbaum and composed by Oscar-nominee Adam Schlesinger. 

"'Text Me Merry Christmas' was so much fun to record," Bell told Seacrest. "The lyrics are smart and creative and musically it was a blast to sing a cappella with Straight No Chaser. I'm excited to be a part of what could be a Christmas classic for our current generation."
