Find Out How Carrie Underwood And Husband Mike Fisher Learned They Were Having A Baby Boy

Carrie Underwood and husband Mike Fisher didn't go the traditional route when it came to finding out their baby's gender.

In an interview with ABC News Radio, the 31-year-old pregnant country star revealed that she and her husband didn't learn that they were having a baby boy in their doctor's office. Instead, the couple opted for something a little more private.

"It's kind of a sterile place," Underwood told ABC, referring to the exam room at the office of their OB/GYN. The "Something in the Water" songstress explained that she and NHL player Fisher decided that they didn't want to learn the sex of their first child from a sonogram screen.

"We got to see all the pictures and everything. It was really cool to see that, but whenever she'd get near those parts, we would look away," said Underwood.

Instead, Carrie and Mike asked their doctor to write their baby's gender on a piece of paper that was put into an envelope, which they later opened at a restaurant.

"[It was] just the two of us in a nicer setting, but we both knew," said the mom-to-be. "So, that was just confirming our suspicions. We didn't really speak of it before, 'cause we were both just like, 'Whatever. It's all good.' But we knew it was a boy."

The world learned that Underwood was having a son during the 2014 CMA Awards last month when her co-host Brad Paisley "accidentally" spilled the beans at the live event.

"Brad's got loose lips. He's a blabber mouth!" said Underwood with a laugh. "So, I was like, 'I'm not gonna tell you until we're ready for the rest of the world to know, 'cause I know you'll tell people.'"
