As fans of Showtime's "Shameless" know, Emmy Rossum is not afraid to strip down on screen.

The 28-year-old actress recently revealed her philosophy on doing nude scenes for film and TV. And she also confessed that she lives by the legendary supermodel Cindy Crawford's take on staying healthy.

"Being naked in character is very easy because it's just playing pretend," Rossum told E! News in a recent interview. "You're someone else. You don't feel like yourself."

It's easy to assume Rossum has a harsh diet and work-out regimen in order to keep in shape for her role on "Shameless." However, according to the actress, she makes sure to indulge in things like sweet treats when she's got a craving.

"I read somewhere that Cindy Crawford, who I think is so beautiful, said 'Be 80 percent good 80 percent of the time'. So I think that's kind of the motto, life is too short not to eat the cookie and not eat the cake but at the same time health is super-important too," she explained.

"I know that when I eat poorly my performance at work is not as good, so I try to be healthy," she added. "But during the holiday season, you need to go easy on yourself a little bit." 

The actress also dished on her role in the upcoming romantic film "Comet," in which she stars opposite Justin Long.

"It's this clash of these two personalities basically," said Rossum. "They meet during a meteor shower at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery and he's (Long) kind of a jaded, doesn't believe in love, a little bit narcissistic...and she (Rossum) is this kind of idealist, believes in love, so they agree to date to prove each other wrong. And then the rest of the film kind of jumps back and forth in time, a la 500 Days of Summer...as they break up and make up as it unfolds, and it's strange and fun." 

Comet opens in theatres tomorrow, Dec. 5.
