Mariah Carey And Nick Cannon Divorce: ‘American Idol’ Judge Late For Christmas Gig Because Of Lawyers, Slammed For Failing To Hit Trademark High Notes [WATCH]

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon's divorce appears to be taking a toll on the 44-year-old songstress. Recently, fans were left disappointed when Carey showed up three hours late for the taping of NBC's annual "Christmas in Rockefeller Center."

According to People magazine, the "Through the Rain" hit maker was late because she was on the phone with her divorce lawyers. For this reason, fans were left waiting in the rain. The publication's source said that Carey did not intend to upset her fans but the call was likewise crucial as it dealt with the custody of her twins with Cannon.

Following the incident, Carey posted an apology on Twitter: "Last night's situation was beyond my control. I apologize to all that showed up, you know that I would never want to disappoint you. You've kept me here, in your hearts, and I keep you in mine always. We are #lambily! #ThereForMe."

Since Carey failed to show up for the taping of the holiday special on Tuesday night, NBC was left with no choice but to let Carey sing her 1994 hit single "All I Want for Christmas is You" live during the network's broadcast of the annual ceremony.

While she appeared on time, Carey appeared to have difficult in hitting her trademark high notes. It did not help that a raw clip of her performance, without audio, was leaked to YouTube on Thursday morning.

Carey is reportedly blaming the producers for leaking her raw audio track. She thinks they intentionally did it to punish her for not showing up on the live event. NBC, however, denies the claims and insists that the mother-of-two "performed beautifully."
