Stephen King IT Movie: Author Finally Agrees To Make Cult Clown Horror Novel Into Film

More than 60 novels of Stephen King were made into movies and "It" is the latest to be added to the fold, as the book is slated to start shooting in the summer of 2015.

In a report by Cinema Blend, Dan Lin is set to produce the new Stephen King "IT" movie.

Lin said, "The most important thing is that Stephen King gave us his blessing. We didn't want to make this unless he felt it was the right way to go, and when we sent him the script, the response that Cary got was, 'Go with God, please! This is the version should make.' So that was really gratifying."

Cary Fukunaga will helm the director's chair of Stephen King's "IT" movie. Fukunaga, together with Chase Palmer and David Kajganich, will reportedly write the screenplay.

Based on the same report by Cinema Blend, Fukunaga has the talent to make the film psychologically scary. According to Dan Lin, the novel, which consists of 1,100 pages, will be divided into two movies.

Lin said in an article by ComingSoon.net, "The book is so epic that we couldn't tell it all in one movie and service the characters with enough depth."

The story was published in 1986 and revolves around seven children, who are terrorized by a clown called "It" that suddenly changes into various forms.

The first movie will delve into the lives of the 1980s kids in Derry, Maine who are haunted by "It." The second movie will fast forward into the future, showcasing the kids in the first movie as grownups, who will continue to battle "It."

ComingSoon.net also reported that the official preparations will begin in March 2015 so that they can shoot in the summer. Lin said, "Cary likes to develop things for a while, and we've been with this for about three or four years, so we're super excited that he stayed with it. You guys are gonna be really excited."

Prior to Stephen King's "IT" movie, the last time that the author's novel was involved in TV or film was in 1990, when it was featured as an ABC miniseries.
