Queen And Adam Lambert To Usher 2015 With A Concert; Band Guitarist Brian May Compares 'American Idol' To Freddie Mercury

Queen and Adam Lambert will usher in 2015 with a New Year's eve concert for BBC One as legendary guitarist Brian May compared the "American Idol" alum to rock icon Freddie Mercury.

In a report from Mirror, it was confirmed that Queen and Adam Lambert will be next seen in a stage near the historic Big Ben to play the band's greatest hits.

"I never imagined we would be around to usher in the year of 2015, what a thrill! We promise you a great night," drummer Roger Taylor said, according to the publication.

The concert, dubbed Queen + Adam Lambert Rock Big Ben Live, "will take place in the build-up to the clock striking midnight, when Brian May says the band will 'rock into 2015.'"

After fireworks, the concert will continue on.

BBC One controller Charlotte Moore said of the concert: "BBC One will be kicking off 2015 in spectacular style with an exclusive live concert from rock legends Queen and Adam Lambert, I hope you join us for a night to remember!"

Meanwhile, Queen's guitarist Brian May, who has seen the late Freddie Mercury up close countless times, dared to compare Adam Lambert with the flamboyant frontman.

In an interview with Neu Magazine, as reported by Primetime Unreality TV, Brian Mayy said that both the "American Idol" alum and Freddie Mercury had the same stage presence and talent.

"The energy which we generate in an arena is I would say as strong as ever - and I think Freddie would agree with me," he said. "I don't think he would be upset with me saying that. I think the Queen show today that we do with Adam Lambert is the equal of anything we ever did."

The BBC has yet to announce who else will be joining Queen and Adam Lambert for the New Year's Eve concert in London.
