Nina Dobrev Works On Lesser Screen Time With Ian Somerhalder? 'The Vampire Diaries' Storyline Harder Due To Split?

Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder have less screen time for "The Vampire Diaries" and that's intentional as producers allegedly have found it harder to keep the peace around the set because of the split.

The rumor mill has been very busy speculating that there's tension on the set of the CW Network series, and the Celebrity Dirty Laundry claimed that the writers have tried to keep Nina Dobrev's Elena Gilbert and Ian Somerhalder's Damon Salvatore away from each other.

"It means that any scene with Ian and Nina in it will have to be meticulously thought out and planned to reduce the awkwardness on set," the article by the tabloid said.

A previous report from Hollywood Life suggested that it didn't sit well with Nina Dobrev that Ian Somerhalder is now dating her friend, Nikki Reed. To make matters worse, the "Twilight" star continues to visit the set causing so much awkwardness among the actors.

"Ian and Nikki's relationship is causing a lot of drama, to the point where the producers have asked Ian not to bring Nikki to set when Nina is there because they are very worried about losing her. They worry that the show would fall apart without her," the source told the site.

"It's unlikely that Nina would try to get out of her contract in the middle of this season, but it's something producers are worried about," it added.

But according to the same article from Celebrity Dirty Laundry, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder have reached some kind of a truce so they can go on with the more romantic scenes for "The Vampire Diaries," as it said: "It was either that or gnawing each other's heads off while filming, and that wouldn't have been pretty."

However, whether that truce between Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder will last to warrant another season of awkwardness is another story altogether.
