Angelina Jolie Skips 'Unbroken' Premiere Due To Chickenpox; Universal Studios Issues Statement [Video]

Angelina Jolie has chickenpox, which means that she will not be at the premiere of her film "Unbroken."

"Unbroken" is Angelina Jolie's second time directorial job.

In a report by Huffington Post, Brad Pitt's wife previously shared how important the project was to her and how much she appreciated the storyline and people that inspired the film.

Unfortunately, the virus, which usually lasts for several days, will keep Angelina Jolie from attending the special event.

A YouTube video, which lasts for 39 seconds, was posted by Universal last Friday, where the "Unbroken" director shared why she will be missing the premiere that was set in Los Angeles last Monday.

Angelina Jolie relayed she had chickenpox in the video, stating: "I just wanted to be clear and honest about why I will be missing the Unbroken events in the next few days, which is that I found out last night that I have chicken pox. So, I will be home itching and missing everyone and I can't believe because this film means so much to me. I just can't believe it but such is life, there it is and, send everyone my love and hope everything goes well."

The last couple of days have been quite hard on Angelina Jolie. Aside from acquiring chickenpox, it was revealed last Thursday that "Unbroken" was not nominated for the Golden Globe Awards despite her high hopes for the film to gain critical acclaim. Brad Pitt's wife also became senter of the Sony hack. In leaked emails between Amy Pascal, co-chairman of Sony Pictures, and producer Scott Rudin, she was branded as "minimally talented spoiled brat".

With Angelina Jolie's chickenpox, her husband Brad Pitt and their children represented the director on her behalf.

Universal stated in a report by the Independent, "We all wish Angelina a speedy recovery and look forward to her returning to her work very soon. She is in very good spirits considering after two years of hard work she will not be there the night it finally premieres."

The movie is set to be launched on Christmas Day and Angelina Jolie's chickenpox has most likely subsided by then.
