'Winds Of Winter' Author George R.R. Martin Knows Fans Are Anxious For Book's Release Date; 'Game Of Thrones' Producer Frustrated With Rumors?

George R.R. Martin is very much aware about the hype surrounding the "Winds ofWinter" release date, but he's frustrated about all the rumors and lies floating around the Internet.

In his official blog, he said dismissed all the rumors regarding the release date for "Winds of Winter" after the "Twelve Days ofChristmas" with a "Westerosi twist" on his Twitter got a lot of publicity as websites speculated on whether it's a countdown to his latest book.

But George R.R. Martin said that the idea for the "Twelve Days of Christmas" was from Random House, and he doesn't even use his Twitter or Facebook account. In his own words, the social media accounts are being managed by his "minions."

"It sounded fun, and funny," George R.R. Martin said of the campaign. "So I said sure, and thought no more of it. It was just a little Christmas celebration."

Little did he know that the campaign would blow up on their faces as it led to speculations and theories on the release date for "Winds of Winter." So George R.R. Martin took to his blog to clarify the rumors.

"Sorry. Not true. Look, I've said before, and I will say again, I don't play games with news about the books. I know how many people are waiting, how long they have been waiting, how anxious they are. I am still working on WINDS," he wrote.

"When it's done, I will announce it here. There won't be any clues to decipher, any codes or hidden meanings, the announcement will be straightforward and to the point. I won't time it to coincide with Xmas or Valentine's Day or Lincoln's Birthday, the book will not rise from the dead with Jesus on Easter Sunday. When it is done, I will say that's it is done, on whatever day I happen to finish," he added.

George R.R. Martin then went to to describe online journalism, in relation to how much lies surrounding the "Winds of Winter" release date are out there, as an oxymoron.
