Many were shocked when the Jonas Brothers breakup was announced in October 2013. After all, Kevin, Nick, and Joe appeared to be having the time of their lives during their eight-year pop career. Kevin finally breaks his silence about the band's falling apart.

As opposed to what others are thinking, he reveals that his relationship with his brothers is better now.

"I think that that's why we're close now, is because we're not in the band. By not being in the band together, that constant, like, butting of heads of working together and being family... We chose to be a family, not a band," he told Huffpost Live.

The 27-year-old likewise admits that he did not expect to have such kind of fame.

"We were really lucky. Being a band that was able to tour around the world, travel, make music that we love - was our music - and then be received well I think was great. You know, being able to play shows and travel together was great, but then once at the end there, the friction was too much and we just really needed to break away and kind of do our own things for some time," he explained.

In a 2013 interview with Vulture, Joe similarly confessed that the falling apart took place because of differences when it comes to music ambitions. He said that the supposedly harmless meeting turned into a heated argument.

 "The fight got loud," Joe said. "I was screaming... I didn't know whether to pick up and leave or just punch something."

The Jonas Brothers breakup also paved way for Nick to have a solo career. He released his self-titled album last year wherein some tracks have been inspired by his Miss Universe 2012 girlfriend, Olivia Culpo.

Joe, on the other hand, reunited with Demi Lovato late last year to perform their "Camp Rock" hit single, "This is Me." As for Kevin, he is now focused on his construction business. He also enjoys being a father to his firstborn, Alena, with wife Danielle.
