AMC To Provide Exciting New Shows: Secures Rights To 'The Night Manager;' 'Making Of The Mob: New York' Miniseries To Premiere This Summer [PHOTO]

AMC is kicking off 2015 with a bang. Not only has it slated "Making of the Mob: New York" to premiere this upcoming summer, it has also secured the rights to the BBC production "The Night Manager," starring Hugh Laurie ("House") and Tom Hiddleston ("The Avengers").

According to The Verge, "Making of the Mob" will be an eight-part docudrama that begins in 1905 and spans more than 50 years, tracing the original five families that led to the modern American Mafia.

Furthermore, before each episode AMC will air a mob drama from their annual "Mob Week," featuring interviews with historians, authors, and actors including Joe Mantegna, Drea de Matteo, and family members.

Joel Stillerman - AMC's executive vice president of original programming, production and digital content - stated, "'Making of the Mob: New York' features fantastic, larger-than-life characters and drama that is better than fiction in every way... This is definitely event television."

As for "The Night Manager," AMC is set to co-produce the project, which is scheduled to debut sometime this spring.

Screen Rant provides a synopsis of the show from its official press release: "A contemporary interpretation of le Carré's espionage drama, 'The Night Manager' will bring together love, loss and revenge in a complex story of modern criminality...

The series follows former British soldier Jonathan Pine (Hiddleston) as he navigates the shadowy recesses of Whitehall and Washington where an unholy alliance operates between the intelligence community and the secret arms trade. To infiltrate the inner circle of lethal arms dealer Richard Onslow Roper (Laurie), Pine must himself become a criminal."
