CBS has recently announced the premiere date for "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" - September 8, 2015. According to The Verge, Colbert will be replacing David Letterman after more than two decades as a host. However, he hasn't got everything figured out just yet! TIME reports that Colbert has yet to figure out the show's format.

When speaking to reporters, Colbert stated, "I have nine months to make a show, just like a baby... So first, I should find out how you make a baby."

We do know that there will be guests on the show, and that Colbert will not be hosting in character. Because he will no longer focus on political satire, he will have much more room as a comedian and as a host. However, nothing else is certain.

CBS president Nina Tassler stated on the subject, "He's brought almost his whole creative team from 'The Colbert Report' with him. He will have music on the show. He's said, repeatedly, that 'I have to be as entertaining as my guests,' so he will certainly have guests on his show...

Whether he's going to start with a monologue, he's working on that right now. But clearly, he knows that he is introducing himself - the real Stephen Colbert - to this audience. And he's really putting a lot of attention into making sure the show is still topical, is still relevant, is still dealing with current events."

She continued, "Part of the opportunity of being in business with brilliant talent like Stephen Colbert is really letting him do what he wants to do. We're really sitting back and waiting for him to come to us and say what he has in mind. He's a real student of media...

He knows the format better than anybody. It's really a discovery process for him. It's still in development. I think there'll be parts that will be traditional in some contexts, and then there will be things he's going to want to try to do."
