Supermodel Irina Shayk quelled talks that the reason behind her split with Cristiano Ronaldo was because of his family but she didn't divulge either the reason for her breakup with the footballer.

The rumor was first started by Correio de Manha, a Portugal publication, as it alleged that the 29-year-old model did not attend the birthday party of the football player's mother, Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro, who turned 60 years old.

"Irina mouthed off about Dolores and Ronaldo took sides with him mum. It was the straw that broke the camel's back because they had hadn't been getting on well in the last few months," the publication said, per Daily Mail.

But the British tabloid talked to the rep of Irina Shayk, who quashed the rumor behind her split with Cristiano Ronaldo.

"We can confirm Irina Shayk has ended her relationship to Cristiano Ronaldo of five years," the rep said. "Irina has been close with his family throughout the course of their relationship. Any negative rumors with regards to Irina and the Ronaldo family are completely false, and have not been a factor in the cause of the split."

"Irina has no further comment at the time," the rep added.

The rumors about the split started when Irina Shayk did not accompany Christiano Ronaldo on Monday in Zurich as he accepted the FIFA Ballon d'Or award. In his speech, the Brazilian football player also didn't mention the model, said Daily Mail.

"It's an unforgettable moment in my life to win the Ballon d'Or for the third time. I feel extremely happy and proud to receive this award and I want to keep challenging myself every day," he said. "I have to thank my family, all the people who support me and also my colleagues of Real Madrid and Portuguese National team that make me a better player every day."

Irina Shayk also unfollowed Cristiano Ronaldo on his Twitter account, and failed to congratulate him for his win, fueling speculations further that they have already split.
