Patrick Dempsey And Jillian Fink's Divorce Comes As A Surprise, 'Grey's Anatomy' Star Concerned For His Three Young Children [PHOTO]

Dr. McDreamy is heading to splitsville. According to USA Today, "Grey's Anatomy" star Patrick Dempsey and his wife Jillian Fink are ending their 15-year marriage. The couple reportedly does not have a prenup, which could potentially make their split messy as Dempsey is estimated to be worth $40 million.

The duo has three children: Tallulah Fyfe, 12, and twins Patrick and Darby Galen, 7. In an exclusive statement to People magazine, they stated, "It is with careful consideration and mutual respect that we have decided to end our marriage. Our primary concern remains the wellbeing of our children, and we ask with profound gratitude that you respect our family's privacy at this very sensitive time."

Their divorce comes as a surprise, as Dempsey has always come off as a caring and thoughtful husband. In a 2014 interview with Good Housekeeping, he shared one of his secrets to a good marriage, stating, "The key to a successful marriage is accepting that you're not going to change the other person. And the words, 'Yes, dear. Whatever you want.'"

He has also emphasized the importance of family time, stating, "Nothing else matters so much as long as you can come home and be with your family." Individual time is also important. According to People Magazine, Fink encouraged Dempsey to pursue his hobby of car racing.

He stated, "[Jillian] was the one to encourage me to go and drive. Her influence was profound. Jill just gets me to believe in my dreams - and act upon them." He also told US Magazine, "[Jillian will] do things on her own so she can come back and be much more patient with the kids. I go car racing."

Perhaps we will never know the true story behind what happened. The Huffington Post reports that the couple is seeking joint custody of their three children, as well as spousal and child support.
