This past Friday night, singer John Mayer guest-hosted CBS Network's "The Late Late Show," where he made a direct reference to his awkward relationship with ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift.

According to the Huffington Post, Swift was included in Mayer's monologue joke about the upcoming Grammy Awards. He stated, "You can see me at the Grammys doing what I do best. Being avoided by Taylor Swift." He then added cheekliy, "That won't make the Internet at all."

Maybe Mayer used all his compliments this past Wednesday during his first late night hosting gig. According to CeleBuzz, he said some kind words about Katy Perry's performance during the Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show, which has added to the rumors that the pair may be dating again.

During the show, he invited #LeftShark and his partner Right Shark to be interviewed. After a quick "dance" with the sharks, Mayer said of Perry, "[The performance] was unbelievable. And I think the whole thing about the sharks, everybody wants to talk about the sharks because it's just something everyone can grab onto because not everyone feels comfortable walking around saying that Katy Perry was amazing."

He continued, "So they use the sharks as kind of, 'Guys, love the sharks'. It's like, you have nothing bad to say about the performance, do you? 'No, I don't.' Because if they did, you'd hear about it. [Katy] made the internet a kind, gentle place for a day. It was awesome."

People Magazine reports that Mayer and Perry have been seen acting lovey-dovey together this past January. The duo is known to have broken up three times in the past two years, making for a tenuous romantic history. However, an insider stated, "They are in love... they missed each other. They have to make time for each other and figure out how they can be together in a smooth relationship."

Who knows? Maybe love is in the air! Only time will tell if it is here to stay.
