Rita Ora Speaks Up On Calvin Harris Split: 'I Had To Take Myself Back'

Rita Ora spoke about her split with Calvin Harris in an interview with Nylon magazine as she claimed that it ended up being the best thing for her.

"I had a breakup, or whatever, and it really made me realise what I was trying to do," she said.

"I had been fixated on this love fantasy, but really it wasn't like that, and I had to take myself back."

"For me, this was my moment where I had to be real and tell the truth and be honest," she said. "I love my pop songs, and I'm still gonna be pop, but this has just got a lot more depth to it."

"Honestly, if Calvin hadn't done it (announced the split via social media), I wouldn't have. It took me five days to write three sentences. It was massive."

Calvin Harris' ex-girlfriend Rita Ora also talked about how she can position herself in the industry.

"You have amazing girls like Emma Watson-glamorous, gorgeous, clean, beautiful girls. But where's that punk energy-that fun, crazy, respected but still like, 'Shit, she's just doing her thing' person? That's who I am!" she told Nylon.

In that regard, Rita Ora makes it a point to always compliment another woman who makes good on her repsective field.

"I've always been really outspoken about it, like telling another woman, 'You killed it,'" she said. "I don't think a lot of females do that these days, especially in this industry."

Calvin Harris confirmed that he and Rita Ora have split last June in a Twitter message: "To address speculation - myself and Rita ended our relationship some time ago. She is a beautiful, talented woman & I wish her all the best."

For her part, Rita Ora told Glamour magazine how she's doing after the split: "I'm not doing too great but I'm doing better than I thought. I adore him and he's an amazing human being."
