There's reportedly no forthcoming "Winds of Winter" release date for 2015, which stretches the waiting time for the new installment of "A Song of Fire and Ice" to four years. Meanwhile, author George R. R. Martin donated a rare book to Texas A&M Libraries.

According to Randi Spray of Capital City Weekly, the first book of the series was published in 1996, the second two years later and the third in 2000.

"So far so good, right? I mean, we can wait two years for a book when it tops 500 pages. That seems reasonable. But then the waits get longer: 'A Feast for Crows' came out in 2005 and 'A Dance with Dragons' in 2011," he wrote.

"At this rate, "Winds of Winter" will come out in 2018. By that time the TV show will have given us all the spoilers," the article noted.

In between writing the "Winds of Winter" to rush the release date, George R. R. Martin is doing philantrophy work as he recently donated a copy of the first edition of J.R.R Tolkien's book, "The Hobbit" to the Texas A&M.

"My memory of A&M and the facilities that you have here, and the strong commitment to science fiction and fantasy were things that swayed me," George R.R. Martin said.

"To most of the rest of the country, the knowledge of Texas A&M mostly derives from 'The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas,' and as a place were people shout 'yee,haw!' a lot. But of course, you and I know it for more than that," he added.

In an earlier blog post, George R. R. Martin weighed in on the various reports on "Winds of Winter" release date.

"I certainly hope that THE WINDS OF WINTER is not on the schedule of ANY of my publishers," he said.

"I have spent years trying to persuade them all not to schedule my books until they are completed and delivered," he added. "Scheduling, and then having to reschedule and postpone, just pisses people off. I'd rather not schedule at all until the date is real and certain."
