Laura Mellors’ Guinea Pig [VIDEOS] Went Viral Enough For Her To Quit Her Job

The dream among our generation is to have a viral video pave the way to a much cooler career.

This exact thing happened to 29-year-old Laura Mellors, who quit her job as an account manger at E-ON energy after YouTube videos of her pet guinea pigs went viral, according to the U.K. media outlet Metro.

“I was just bored one day so I made a film about my guinea pigs Gus and Hercules,” stated Mellors.

She added, “I’d bought a new cage which gives them different compartments and levels to climb on and I was intrigued to see how they would react to it. I uploaded the video to YouTube and within a few days I was getting really positive feedback and requests for more videos.”

Mellors and her husband, 30-year-old James, currently have seven guinea pigs, Billy, Bobby, Fozzy Bear, Brian, Bo, Alfie and Gizmo, according to the U.K.’s Express. Mellors reportedly started filming her guinea pigs back in 2010 and has now garnered 54,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel, PiggiePigPigs. Yes, the name is amazing.

Mellors’ YouTube empire has grown as she reportedly now sells related accessories along with filming her viral guinea pig videos.

“My guinea pigs are now followed and sent fan mail. People ask what they’re up to,” stated Mellors.

She continued, “When i was at the London Pet show last year a little girl and her mum even came up and asked for my autograph.”

The craze over Mellors’ viral guinea pig videos has gone beyond her hometown.

“The strangest thing happened last October when I was honeymoon in Florida and I met some fans over there,” stated Mellors.

She added, “I’d told people on Facebook I was going to America on honeymoon and I got requests to meet them so I ended up meeting two families while I was there.”
