Karina Smirnoff and Jason Adelman ended their engagement. This was the third time the Dancing With the Stars pro dancer has been engaged. Smirnoff was engaged fellow DWTS pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy in 2008. Karina Smirnoff isn't participating in Dancing With the Stars season 20.

Smirnoff accepted a proposal from Dancing With the Stars pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy in 2008. Maks and Karina split less than a year later. Smirnoff was engaged to MLB pitcher Brad Penny from late 2010 until their split in late 2011.

Karina Smirnoff, who's love of dating led her to write "We're Just Not That Into You: Dating Disasters from the Trenches," ended her engagement to Jason Adelman, according to People magazine.

Karina Smirnoff and her fiance Jason Adelman announced their plans to marry two months ago.

According to E! News, Adelman proposed to Karina Smirnoff in January. Adelman gave the Dancing With the Stars pro a Martin Katz emerald cut diamond ring worthbetween $100,000 and $300,000 that reportedly weighed in just under five carats. Smirnoff was seen without the engagement ring at  promotional events for her new book We're Just Not That Into You in recent weeks.

Dancing With the Stars roles as pro dancer and dancing coach Karina Smirnoff competed in unison with UFC fighter Randy Couture last season. Smirnoff and Couture were eliminated in the third week of competition.

Smirnoff's representatives could not be reached for comment, but a source told Us Weekly that the split is "such a complicated mess. ... It's a very sticky situation. [Smirnoff] won't discuss the engagement because she is so distressed about the entire thing."
