Emma Watson Didn’t Think She’d Become Famous; ‘Beauty And The Beast’ Star Thanks ‘Harry Potter’ Franchise For Her Success

While other stars her age are enjoying the fruits of their fame, "Beauty and the Beast" actress Emma Watson never thought that she would achieve a well-known status in Hollywood. For her, she owed everything when she got the role of Hermione Granger in the hit "Harry Potter" franchise.

"I've just always been aware that it was a bit of a double-edged sword. I think I never really thought necessarily I'd become an actress or become famous," she told Total Film magazine.

The 24-year-old also explained to the same magazine the "passive" way of how she got in to Hollywood.

"It's something I felt very passive in. It was something that happened to me. They came to my school. They saw me and they took photographs of me. I was taken up to London [UK] to audition."

Despite her popularity, the "Ballet Shoes" actress wanted to prove that there's more to her than acting.

Emma Watson got known for taking a break from the spotlight to study in Brown University in Rhode Island and Oxford University in England.

"I wanted to be able to move myself into a place where I felt like I was driving my career and my life, rather than just responding to things that happened to me. I wanted to try to make it my own," she told the same magazine.

"Beauty and the Beast" actress Emma Watson's hard work paid off for she was chosen as the United Nation's Ambassador for Women. The "Harry Potter" star has been making headlines for her women-empowering statements.

Recently, she recalled a time when her date got upset when she offered to foot the bill. For her, it was normal because chivalry should be two-way.

"I chose the restaurant because it's my favourite restaurant. I would love to pay, but next time, you choose the place and you pay, or whatever it is. The key is chivalry should be consensual, both parties should be feeling good about that," said the "Noah" actress during a live Facebook question-and-answer session for International Women's Day.
