Ellen DeGeneres ‘Flabbergasted’ By Portia Di Rossi Divorce Rumors; Ellen Talks About The Commitment of Having Kids: ‘You Have To Stick With It And I Just Don't Know If I Can’

Ellen DeGeneres Portia di Rossi divorce rumors have been on overdrive since the celebrity couple first got married. Probably before that, though that wouldn't really make sense. Ellen and Portia have been married since August 2008 and many fans wonder whether the couple plan to have kids.

"I think I would. But that's not enough to have kids. I love kids. But that's such a big commitment," DeGeneres, 57, told NBC veteran Matt Lauer in a recent interview that took place on the set of Ellen's show. "And it seems long-term. It seems like a commitment that you have to stick with. And I just don't know if I can - it's too risky."

According to a report at Us Weekly, the funny lady explained that she had no idea if she wants kids, when she's seen some of offspring of some of her guests.

"Like, what if I don't like the kid?" Ellen told Lauer. "What if it turns out that it's not as cute as I wanted or as talented? I'm gonna compare it to all these kids that I have on this show that are so smart and so funny. And I'm like, 'You are nowhere near these kids I had on today.'"

"I'm getting too old," Ellen added. "Listen, they're cute, those little kids, but no."

DeGeneres came out in 1997, on an airport loudspeaker on her sitcom "Ellen."

DeGeneres announced on her show in May 2008 that she was marrying the Arrested Development star after the California Supreme Court overturned the state's gay marriage ban.

DeGeneres and the Ausstralian actress Rossi have been battling divorce rumors since the announcement.

"I'm just more flabbergasted by the fact that someone needs to make up a story. There's never been a point where we were breaking up or divorcing or fighting. None of these stories are even remotely true. I don't know the magazines and I don't have a publicist, so I don't know," Ellen said.

"I have a very small team around me...I don't want to know that stuff, so when someone does bring it up to me, I'm like, 'Really?' I don't know how many times they've said that we've broken up, but I know that they have," she continued.

When Lauer asked how long the Emmy winning comedian would be doing The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Ellen answered "I can't answer that question right now. I really can't."

"I get out of bed every day. And I'm excited. I do get out of bed every day," she said. "Some days I'm tired and some days even when I'm tried and I get here. And you know-the audience is unbelievable."
