Arrested Development Netflix: 17 More Episodes To Air, Confirms Producer; Is A Feature Film In The Works?

"Arrested Development"  will have more episodes to be aired on Netflix according to series producer Brian Grazer. Grazer, who heads Imagine Entertainment with director Ron Howard, recently dropped the news in a podcast interview with Bill Simmons.

"We're going to do another 17 episodes," Grazer confirmed. "So, stay tuned for 'Arrested Development'."

"Arrested Development" aired for three seasons on Fox over a decade ago. The show had a successful run, bagging an Emmy award for Best Comedy Series and gaining praise from critics. Since its cancellation, the show has gained a cult following among fans, who rallied for the show to be resurrected.

In 2013, Netflix announced that they will be airing a brand new season of the show, and fans saw this is as a victory for those that had been clamoring for the show's return.

However, "Arrested Development's" fourth season garnered a mix response from the audience.

Screenrant reported that Netflix chief Ted Sarandos revealed that "Arrested Development" season 4 on did not show the cast in plenty of scenes together enough, which could have hampered the show's success. He said this was due to scheduling conflicts among the cast members.

However, this did not deter talks about a possible "Arrested Development" movie.

In August 2013, the show's creator, Mitch Hurwitz told Rolling Stone magazine that he was bringing "Arrested Development" to the big screen.

"I'm working on the movie right now," Hurwitz shared. "I can't get into much more detail because I don't want to scare anybody off."

" I don't want to be presumptuous about it. I don't own the property outright - it's a 20th Century Fox property," he contiued. "But everybody seems really into it and really eager to make a movie."

"Arrested Development" is the latest show produced by Netflix. Fans say that the TV and movie subscription service has gained a steady following for its shows such as the prison drama "Orange Is The New Black" and Kevin Spacey's White House show "House of Cards."
