Mindy Kaling is likely bummed that 'The Mindy Project' wasn't renewed after three seasons, but let's talk a moment to look back at her days at NBC's "The Office." Mindy Kaling admitted on The Howard Stern Show what she would have done if her "Office" co-star and boyfriend at the time B.J. Novak had proposed.

The 35-year-old actress dated B.J. Novak years ago. In September, Kaling had said that her now-ex boyfriend was the one to initiate the breakup.

But what would she have done if he had proposed? She would have said yes!

"I was 24. For the record if anyone asked me to marry me I would have said yes," she joked.

"I don't have a particular urge to get married," Kaling told InStyle. She's featured on the cover of the magazine's June 2015 issue.

"But I do know with certainty that I want to have kids, because my relationship with [my mom] was so special."

What's Mindy's relationship like with B.J. now?

It's "weird," she admitted.

"He is not my boyfriend, but he is not my best friend," she told InStyle. "I guess you could describe our relationship as a 'romantically charged camaraderie with loud arguments,' but I don't think Facebook would accept this as a new status."

Kaling had told Good Housekeeping earlier this year that her mom "loved" Novak, adding, "He feels like family."

Kaling's mother, Dr. Swati Chokalingam, was an OBG/YN and tragically passed away on Jan. 30, 2012 after battling pancreatic cancer.
