"The Mentalist" actor Simon Baker is looking quite sharp at the red carpet after a brief hiatus following the end of his series.

On Friday night, the 45-year-old actor posed for the cameras while dressed in a tuxedo-without a bow tie on-which he paired with brown shoes and thick-rimmed brown glasses.

"The hunky actor was in his element as he was joined by film producer Kate Driver - the older sister of actress Minnie - on the red carpet and the pair of them flashed their smiles to the cameras," Daily Mail said.

"At one point, Simon even cracked a joke as Kate, who was dressed in a blue dress with sheer arms and layered fabric around the ankles, tossed her head back and fell into a fit of giggles," it said.

After the final episode of "The Mentalist," Simon Baker-who played Patrick Jane-said he will take some time off for a while. The series ended on Feb. 18.

"I'm looking forward to enjoying the simple things socially, actually reconnecting with friends and family that I've been a little bit out of the loop with for the last seven years," he said. "I'd love to be the assistant coach of my kid's soccer team, and actually be able to go to practice or just go camping."

Earlier, it was reported that Simon Baker has been scouting locations in Sydney.

According to Daily Telegraph, Simon Baker just purchased an apartment in the area for $2.5 million where he and wife Rebecca Rigg, along with their three children, Stella, Claude and Harry, will be staying.

The duo has been married since 1998 and shares three children together, Stella Breeze, 22, Claude Blue, 17, and Harry Friday, 14.

Apart from TV engagements, "The Mentalist" actor Simon Baker is also fronted for Givenchy Fragrance, ANZ Bank and Longines watches.
