‘Castle’ Season 8 Renewal: Series Returns With Full Season Treatment? Stana Katic, Nathan Fillion’s ‘Witty Banter’ Still On!

Will "Castle" season 8 renewal be getting the full season treatment, or is it going to be a much shorter run?

According to TVLine, "Stana Katic's new one-year Castle deal has her appearing in all of Season 8's 22 or 23 episodes."

However, the studio has not yet confirmed if this is going to be the case.

Commented Cartermatt, "Ultimately, we would be very much pleased if the show lasts that long, and it does benefit the network to have an established scripted hit. While the ratings are not what they once were, it keeps Monday nights pretty stable and in the event that some new shows fail, ABC can use those timeslots to try out some other series."

After much suspense, Stana Katic released a statement about two weeks ago that she signed on for "Castle" season 8 renewal.

She wrote, "I am pleased to announce that, after talking with out new show runners, Terrence Paul and Alexi Hawley (both of whom I've had the pleasure of working with on the show before), I'm excited about the future plans for Beckett and delighted for a Season 8 with Castle."

Co-showrunner Alexi Hawley had said that if Stana Katic had not returned for the "Castle" season 8 renewal, they would have to rework the script.

"There's always a Plan B," she said. "But it would've been a fundamentally different show, and that would've been quite a mountain to climb."

NYPost noted that fans can look forward to more witty banters between Beckett and Rick now that Stana Katic has signed on for season 8 renewal of "Castle."

"The Season 7 finale, which aired Monday night, left the couple's fate in limbo as Beckett is faced with the decision of whether to leave the precinct to run for the New York state senate," it said.

With the renewal, the first episode of "Castle" season 8 is scheduled to air in the fall.
