Elton John Attends Reunion With Classmates; Details Revealed!

Elton John attended a reunion with his classmates from grammar school this weekend, getting together with friends he had not seen in 50 years.

The 68-year-old musician posted a photo of himself with is classmates with the caption, "Lunch at home with dear old school friends. Many of whom I haven't seen for 50 years!"

"It was as if we never left school," the singer added. "So much laughter and so many wonderful memories #ShareTheLove #PinnerCountyGrammarSchool #Classof58."

The singer was currently on tour but he jetted back from Las Vegas to England just to attend the reunion with his classmates from Pinner County Grammar School. The young John attended this school, located in his hometown of Pinner, Middlesex, England, in the 1950s.

Before becoming known as "Elton John," he was known to his classmates as Reginald Kenneth Dwight. Aside from Elton John, the Pinner County Grammar School also has another famous former student, Simon LeBon, the frontman of the band Duran Duran.

The singer apparently kept in touch with several of his friends from that school, including one that he considers his oldest friend. John posted a photo with the caption, "My oldest pal Keith Francis."

"A wonderful, loyal friend for 57 years and still counting!" the singer added. "He flew all the way from Australia for our class reunion. Love you so much."

Both of Elton John's parents were musically inclined. But his father, Stanley Dwight, discouraged his passion for music and wanted him to take a traditional route in life as a banker.

Dwight reportedly never watched a single performance of his son. "My father was sealed off from my talent and I never knew why," Elton wrote in The Times  "Was it homophobia? Was it fear?"

But John did not follow his father's advice, and dropped out of school when he was 17-years-old, just before his exams, to pursue a career in music.
