Names such as Epitone Project, 10cm, Primary, Verbal Jint, Baechigi are not unfamiliar anymore. These indie and hip-hop groups have gone from underground to mainstream. 

The public has accepted these underground groups and have made them, 'groups that gear towards their own style'.

To the public eye, these group's, who had mania level fans, are now out in the mainstream as one of the hottest artists. Last year, Epitone Project became known to the public through his featuring on Lee Seung Gi's new album. Lee Seung Gi and Epitone Project worked to create a more smooth and melodious song and because of that they received much love and support.

Lee Seung Gi, who had always been a fan of Epitone, had asked to do a collaboration in which Epitone quickly accepted. With the two coming together, a new and interesting style of music was formed. After his collaboration with Lee Seung Gi, Epitone has been receiving many love calls from other artists as well.

Duo 10cm, who gained much fame through their song, "Americano," was the first indie group to hold a solo concert with 2,700 fans. They will also be holding another solo concert on February 23 to celebrate their most recent album.

Indie bands holding huge solo concerts is seen as very rare, and because of this rare opportunity, they were able to bring their music a bit closer to the public. They recently released their mini album at the beginning of this month and is receiving much praise.

Hip-hop duo, Baechigi has finally received the spotlight after 10 years since debut. With their most recent song, "Shower of Tears," it was the first time in 10 years that they topped music charts and won first place on a music program. 

Artist Verbal Jint was one that had mania-level fans as well. He is slowly becoming familiar to the public as his songs are becoming more popular.His unique style of rapping has become his signature style and he has been receiving numerous requests to be featured in other artist's songs.

Famous hip-hop producer Primary also gained much attention after producing for unit group, INFINITE H. His feature in the song allowed him to become closer to the public as well.

An official commented, "Up until recently, idol groups were the main artists in our music industry. However, because they are all coming out with the same style of music, the public has begun to look for something different. That is why the indie and hip-hop scene has suddenly begun to come out of hiding."

They also commented that having the mainstream idols and the underground indie groups collaborating has created a more dynamic and creative atmosphere for the music industry as well.
