Tracy Morgan Shares Peak At Recovery Condition In First Interview; Comedian Admits Battling Guilt And Depression

During his interview with the Today show, Tracy Morgan shed light on his condition as he admitted to have battled guilt and depression after the New Jersey Turnpike crash that killed one of his mentor, James McNair aka Uncle Jimmy Mack.

Speaking to Matt Lauer, Tracy Morgan said, "Sometimes, emotionally, I don't feel well. I'm really focused on my memory coming back to me, my walking getting better."

Although he's had his bouts with depression and guilt after one of his closest friends was killed, Tracy Morgan claimed that his condition won't prevent him from walking up the stage once more.

"I love comedy, and I wonder how I'm going to be funny again, remembering my identity ... I promise you: One day, when I'm 100 percent, I'm going to grab that mic, and I'm never going to let it go."

"I'm going to be the funniest I can be because I ain't never going to take life for granted no more," the "30 Rock" actor added.

Tracy Morgan also mourned the loss of James McNair, whose family accepted a settlement offer from Walmart. The retail giant's driver Kevin Roper was behind the wheel of a truck that caused the Turnpike pileup that put the comedian in critical condition.

"The case is settled, but the pain is always going to be there for Jimmy Mac. Bones heal, but the loss of my friend will never heal," he said.

Tracy Morgan also settled his civil case with Walmart for an undetermined amount of money. Although the comedian's condition appeared to be better, he's still rehabbing at a New York facility and walks with an aid of a cane.

The comedian said in a statement, "Walmart did right by me and my family and for my associates and their families. I am grateful that the case was resolved amicably."
