‘Fashion Police's’ New Host Revealed; Melissa Rivers Excited For Show’s Comeback

"Fashion Police's" new host has been revealed. According to a feature from New York Daily News Confidenti@l , executive producer Melissa Rivers is reportedly excited for the show's comeback.

The hit E! fashion critique show will return from a six-month hiatus on Aug. 31. Melissa Rivers herself will debut as "Fashion Police's" new host.

"Melissa's going on," an insider revealed. The 47-year-old will supposedly start with a six-show commitment, and will check the ratings to decide on their next steps.

"She is so happy, she is excited."

"The idea actually came from her. The bosses like it," the insider added.

Melissa Rivers signing on to be "Fashion Police's" new host is supposedly meant to honor her late mother Joan Rivers. The former mainstay and comedy icon passed away in September 2014 after a botched throat operation at an Upper East Side clinic named Yorkville Endoscopy.

"It'll be a tribute to her mom," the insider continued.

"Melissa's the one who understands how it's done. She can pull it off."

The source also explained several major changes when the show returns in time for the 2015 Emmy Awards. Aside from Melissa Rivers, the rest of "Fashion Police's" new hosts will be a mix of celebrities who will be on a rotating schedule. The personalities will reportedly be coming from Los Angeles and New York.

"They will rotate celebs every episode," the insider explained.

"They are talking to Wendy Williams and they really want her. Melissa loves her and Wendy is very interested."

The need to have a rotating cast could be due to the sudden departures of former "Fashion Police" hosts Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin. The two resigned after mainstay Giuliana Rancic made seemingly racist comments about teen star Zendaya Coleman, who she said must have "smelled like patchouli oil or weed" for wearing dreadlocks at the 2015 Oscars.

In related news from Us Weekly, Kathy Griffin defended her decision to quit, particularly after she was accused by Melissa Rivers of disrespecting her mother's legacy.

"Kathy considered Joan a mentor," a source explained. "The truth is, the show was never going to be the same without Joan.''
