The iPhone 5 was released on September 21 and the GalaxyS3 on May 29 of 2012.  

Though the battle continues every day and every year with new phone, there's the tail-of-the-tape. This details important details of each phone, pitted against one another.

There's always a weigh in for a fight and the Iphone5 weighs in at 3.9oz, while the Galaxys3 tips the scales at 4.7oz.

The Galaxy S3 memory can be expanded from 16GB to 64GB. For the iPhone 5, for example, if you have a 32GB, there's no expanding. Both have carriers of Verizon and Sprint, though the Iphone5 is carried by AT&T, while T-Mobile carries the Galaxys3.

If price is the selling point, then the s3 takes the cake. According to wirefly.com, the Galaxy S3 sells at less than $199 with 16GB vs. The Iphone5, which is $199 with 16GB. There are 32GB and 64GB options, which raise the price up to $399.

When coming to this fight, Flash is once again not be in the corner of the Iphone franchise. It  supported the Galaxy's newest family member. This means more content on the web can be viewed with the S3.

There is no user-replaceable battery for the Iphone5, while the GalaxyS3 will have that option.

The cameras differ slightly. Both rear cameras will be 8mp still and 1080p for video. The front camera videos are both 720p, yet the still for the GalaxyS3 will have .7mp better than the Iphone5.   

The GalaxyS3 has 3GHz more than the Iphone5, meaning higher productivity. It has an hour more of battery for conversations with your family and friends.

In the battle of inches, the S3 is larger, with a 4.8 to the 4 inch screen size of the Iphone5.

In good news for the consumer, both combatants have a data speed of 4G, which is up to ten times faster than 3G.
