Howard Stern Announces Departure From ‘America's Got Talent’ Season 11; Simon Cowell Set To Replace Him?

Howard Stern just dropped a bombshell on his show on SiriusXM. He reportedly won't be coming back in "America's Got Talent" season 11 to work on other opportunities.

With Howard Stern's plans to leave the show after four seasons, the show would be one judge short for next season. Stern though has already got someone in mind to replace him: Simon Cowell.

"Simon Cowell wants it anyway," Howard Stern said about his possible "America's Got Talent" judge replacement as reported by Deadline.

"He would be good at it," he added.

Cowell is one of the creators of "America's Got Talent" and also served as executive producer of the show. Cowell also served as judge for the show's British version.

Howard Stern has been hesitant in doing "America's Got Talent" again due to his busy schedule. He also wanted to dive into other opportunities which his busy schedule won't allow.

"I told them, this is my last season," Stern explained on his show as quoted by Variety"I am going through my own career evaluation right now. I'm just too f*****g busy."

"I have been made an offer in television that excites me," he further explained as mentioned by Mail Online"I think it would be a great opportunity. But I can't do America's Got Talent, the radio show, and the television opportunity."

Howard Stern started as judge of "America's Got Talent" in 2012, according to Extra. He replaced then judge Piers Morgan. In 2013, he expressed to People that he thought twice in returning to the show but caved in the end.

Howard Stern said he was given by NBC until July 4 to decide if he will stay or leave "America's Got Talent" season 11. But Stern seemingly has made up his mind.

"They can move on with their plans, and I will continue to be a fan of the show and have a great last season and enjoy the live shows and all of that," he said as quoted by USA Today.

"And I feel funny leaving it because I think I'm leaving it in good hands in the sense that if I had any effect on the show, it was to elevate the show and have it taken more seriously," Howard Stern continued to explain about his stay on "America's Got Talent."
