Can Iggy Azalea’s Wedding To Boyfriend Nick Young And New Album 2016 Save Her Career, Following Cancelled Tour And Homophobic Tweets?

While it's been a less-than-stellar year for Iggy Azalea's career, her love life, meanwhile, is blossoming. Iggy Azalea is suffering from a bout of bad publicity, with her cancelled tour and backlash following homophobic tweets she once posted. But her wedding to boyfriend Nick Young is coming up, as is a new album to be released in 2016. Can Iggy save her image?

"The Iggy Azalea Great Escape Tour scheduled for this fall has been cancelled and refunds are available at point of purchase," read an email reportedly sent out to ticket holders on Friday, May 29. "There will be a new tour planned around Iggy's new record to be released in 2016 and we apologize for any inconvenience."

Iggy later confirmed the news via Twitter, writing: "As u may know, the tour is cancelled. I'm so sad and sorry to let my fans down...we'll be back out on the road when the next album is done."

The tour was supposed to kick off Sept. 18 in San Diego. The tour's cancellation shouldn't have come as a surprise to many - the signs were there. In March, the rapper rescheduled the dates for the tour "due to production delays."

At the time she explained the decision, calling herself a "psychopath."

"It is bumped back because I am a psychopath. It is my first arena tour, so it's a big undertaking and I'm doing a lot of the creative direction, which I do for everything," she told 97.1 AMP Radio. "It's tough when it's your first time working on an arena situation."

Just a few months later, Iggy Azalea was scheduled to headline at the June 13 Pittsburgh Pride parade, but local LGBT groups were dropping out like flies when they heard Iggy was going to perform.

"Our board voted last week to not march in the Pittsburgh Pride parade, due to the insensitive choice of Iggy Azalea as headliner," a representative from Pittsburgh's Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette last week.

Taking the high road, Iggy pulled out of the parade, saying she didn't want her appearance to "further distract from the true purpose of the event."

She also apologized for offensive statements she's made in the past, including past tweets that many claimed were racist and homophobic. "I meant no harm and deeply regret ever uttering those words," she wrote.

But it isn't all bad for Iggy. Azalea returned to Twitter last week after quitting in February, responding to fan questions about her wedding plans to boyfriend of almost two years, Nick Young.

She replied to a fan tweet, writing that her relationship with Young is "great" and she's "already planning the big day."

Azalea said she'll wear "white or ivory" when she walks down the aisle, adding, "I do want a pretty traditional style wedding."

The couple got engaged at Young's 30th birthday party on June 1.

With what's sure to be a star-studded event (Young is in the NBA), and a chance to turn the attention back to her music with a new album coming out in 2016, Iggy might be able to salvage what's left of her career. After all, the rapper is only 25 and has a lifetime ahead of her to prove her talent.
